“Acting is a kind of conscious participation in life. People act all the time. While most artistic expressions concern themselves with authenticity, acting is the only one based on the constant embodiment of the self through other, which ultimately causes the experience of a variety of authentic selves. In other words an expansion of the perception of self.
If one chooses to, it creates immense empathy and heightened sensitivity to the beauty of life itself.
Therefore, it is an act of rebellion against the rigidity and dullness of our time. Against the tight grip our profit-driven systems have around our tense and anxious bodies and minds, objectifying us, separating us and numbing us.
As an actor I choose to be raw, to strip naked to the last garment - the mask of the other - while the self is on wide display. To engage with the primal life inside, which we’re desperately trying to hide.”
